The first day of the 2022-2023 school year will be August 22, based on the guidelines of state legislation. The calendar was developed in the fall of 2021 by a committee made up of teachers, parents, community members and staff, according to a district news release.

Lone Star College-CyFair is opening its library to the public for tours, allowing them to experience the space and win prizes.

The Pop in to Your Library Tours program returns to LSC-CyFair Libraries January 24-27, January 31-February 31. 3 and 7-10 Feb. Librarian-led tours will last 30 minutes or less and no registration is required. Participants can meet near the entrance to the LSC-CyFair Technology Building and will have a chance to win.

"These three weeks of introductory tours are designed to reduce barriers to library care for both students and community visitors," Liz Nebeker, reference librarian, said in a university news release. "The tours cover library resources and services available to help classroom and community projects succeed. Come and learn the 'where to do what' in the library and meet our librarians who are here as 'expert resources' to serve you."

Franklin Sampson, director of guidance and counseling at Cy-Fair ISD, has been elected vice president of the Lone Star State Association of School Counselors of Education Counselor.

"This will be a tremendous opportunity and will give me the opportunity to continue giving back to others," Sampson said in a news release. "I made it my daily goal to do whatever I could to make an impact on someone's life. Serving in this capacity will help our organization grow to greater heights. I have the unique position of overseeing nearly 300 school counselors, 19 social workers, four mental health counselors, and one substance use counselor. I will use my influence to continue to contribute to this remarkable association."

Texas School Calendar 2022 2023 [county School District]

Cy-Fair ISD had 18 wrestlers medal during the 19th CFISD Invitational Jan. 7-8, including two individual championships.

The Cypress Ranch High School girls wrestlers finished as the top-ranked CFISD school, while the Cy Ranch boys earned the highest ranking of any CFISD team in the boys tournament.

Kahla High School students and staff held a Bears for the Blue drive, collecting new and used stuffed animals for the CFISD Police Department and other police departments.

Take A Look At Austin Isd's Newly Approved Calendar For The 2021 22 School Year

According to a district press release, they collected 160 stuffed animals that will be donated to children in need.

The drive was planned by Kahle paraprofessional Kelsey Jackson and secretary Dolores Frayler as an opportunity for students to help others. The ride started on January 5th and ended on January 13th.

"It was a service project giving back to the community," Jackson said. "I've spoken to some kids who are economically disadvantaged and to hear them talk about giving their stuffed animals to someone else who may be in need is huge. They get something in return, but it's not tangible. It's a good service."
