Uf 2023-24 Calendar – UF parking and construction: Parking, construction and road closures on the UF campus continue to cause problems for campus commuters.
Gabriella Winkler drew her version of the UF parking map when her family drove to campus on May 1 for graduation. It's the only way to give them the most up-to-date information on new road closures and regularly added parking spaces, she said.

There are four levels of student parking permits: graduate students can park in green spaces, and campus residents can park in red or red spaces. Off-campus students can park at the park-and-ride near the Southwest Recreation Center.

"Is it worth the risk because they don't care enough about us to change their parking and student numbers?" Winkler asked. "It's sad. It really makes you angry, but where do you think all this money is going."
Paige Davis, a 21-year-old UF graduate, noticed that cars became more accessible when construction began. He took the bus regularly for three years, but stopped going to RTS to campus because of his insecurity.
He tried to park at the J. Wayne Reitz Union but said he was turned away because it was too closed.

Director of Transportation and Parking Services Ron Fuller said students need space where their classrooms are, and that's not available to everyone.
"We're not going to do that, because we're not going to be a school where most of the school is going to have a lot of parking again," Fuller said.
He said there is plenty of parking on campus for students who want to get on campus, including Park-and-Ride and car lots.

Fuller doesn't think the facility's closing in the fall should be a cause for concern; He said most of the construction done at the high school where students park is very small.
Kimberly Blum, a 17-year-old freshman, noticed a lack of parking when she first visited campus this year. Blum and her family were able to park at the Reitz Union when they first arrived, but were unable to reserve parking that day.
The parking problem didn't stop Blum from attending college, because he said UF had a lot of good opportunities for him.
