About UW-Eau Claire Known as Wisconsin's most beautiful campus, UW-Eau Claire sits on the banks of the Chippewa River in downtown Eau Claire. Eau Claire, the largest city in western Wisconsin, is the Minneapolis-St. Located 90 miles east of Broad beans. Known for its clean water, the city has a population of 68,000, but is consistently ranked as one of the safest places in the country. The Eau Claire area is home to many lakes, parks, bike paths and wooded areas where students enjoy seasonal sports, camping and other recreational activities. In case you haven't heard, big changes are coming to the UW-Eau Claire campus! The university announced today that it secured a private gift to fund the construction of the new event center. The Sonnentag Event Center has 5,000 seats and a 100m long grass field. BMB plans to move Pablo's annual concert to the Festival Center to accommodate the larger crowd and larger concert. The field house will allow BMB to rehearse in-season events and review key bookings outside of the regular season. Preparing for international travel will also be easier. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2022 and is expected to be completed in spring 2024.

Plus, we're even more confident that Bluegold football will have a new home on campus soon! Simpson Field (upper campus) had turf installed and plans were made to gradually add far-side seating, then adjacent bleachers, eventually becoming the new Bluegold Stadium. The transition from Carson Park to a new stadium will take several years, but all indications seem to be pointing in the right direction. Stay tuned for more details!

The preliminary performance schedule for 2022 has been published. Please note that this is a working document and subject to change. If Bluegold adds another home game to the football schedule, there will be two days off in September. The concert schedule includes dates for an international tour of South America in 2023.

BMB is pleased to announce the 2020 performance schedule! Next season there will be three showcase competitions: Music Across the Chippewa, Youth in Music (Minneapolis), and a special invitation for American bands to perform at the BOA Super Regionals in Indianapolis. Although there are two "double" weekends with two concerts on the same day, there are also two free weekends! That hasn't happened in years.

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is pleased to announce the appointment of Sharon Freeman Laird as Associate Director of Athletic Bands. Laird 475 is a member of the Bluegold Marching Band, who will assist the Varsity State Band, supervise the Bluegold Basketball Pep Band, and collaborate in every step of planning one of the largest marching programs in the state.

Prior to his appointment at UW-Eau Claire, Laird spent 20 years as director of bands at Oak Grove (MS) High School, where he led one of the largest band programs in the country. In 2017 the Warrior Marching Band won the MHSAA/MBA 6A State Marching Championship and in 2018 the program received the ASBDA Award of Excellence and under Ms. Laird's leadership the band has won the MHSAA Sweepstakes Award every year since the award's inception.

Laird graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi, where Thomas Frazio, Kelly Love and Rod Harkins were students. Ms. Laird is a Southern physician and activist who performs at the prestigious Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, IL.

Ms. Laird was recently named the director of the Mississippi Lions All-American Marching Band, leading the team to the International Championships in Milan, Italy in July 2019. He is active as a member and past president of Phi Beta Mu, NBA, Mississippi Band Directors Association, member and past president of SEMBDA, and ASBD member and Region 5 representative.

Check list is complete! The division leaders have all reported with their final numbers, and we finally have the 2019 list. The team is bigger than we expected, but that's a good thing. It will be difficult to get enough equipment and fit everyone, but the end result will be amazing.

Excavation will begin on Monday, July 15, with a list approved by department heads. No vacancies, no options. If you are a certified BMB member and an emergency arises, you must know by August 1st. This will give us time to find someone to fill your role or remove the role entirely. No drops will be accepted after August 1st.

Due to scheduling issues with Carson Park, the exact schedule for each day is up in the air.

It should be noted that each member will be contacted separately in early July. Members must respond and provide housing information. This allows us to allow members to check in earlier than camp time.

All field arrangements completed and ready to read! We will hold a study session on Monday 6th May at 5:30pm in the band rehearsal room. This takes precedence over regular varsity band practice and anyone/everyone is welcome to participate.

BMB is pulling out all the stops for the 2019 season. The 20th anniversary show is set to be the "biggest show ever," so we're making sure it's just that.

There seems to be more good news about BMB's direction and progress around every corner. Again we repeat it. A new project was launched a few days ago which could be the biggest boost to BMB's image and quality in the last 19 years. I'm not talking about the new drum line, new uniforms and facility upgrades announced earlier this spring. These projects will continue and I will talk about something new that none of you have heard of this fall. I don't
