Franklin Sampson, director of guidance and counseling for Cy-Fair ISD, has been elected vice president of the Lone Star State School Counselor Association's Office of Counselor Educator.
"This will be an awesome opportunity and give me a chance to continue giving back to others," Sampson said in a press release. Cy Fair School Notebook: Cfisd Approves 2022 2023 Instructional Calendar
Cy-Fair ISD brought 18 wrestlers to medals at the 19th CFISD Invitational on January 7-8, including two individual championships.
The female wrestlers from Cypress Ranch High School finished as the top-ranked CFISD school, while the male Cy Ranch wrestlers had the highest finish of any CFISD team in the men's tournament.
Students and staff at Kahla Middle School organized the Bears for the Blue campaign, collecting new and used stuffed animals for the CFISD Police Department and other police departments.
Mean Green Softball Sets Spring Schedule
According to a district press release, 160 stuffed animals have been collected and will be donated to children in need.
The ride was planned by Kahla's class paraprofessional Kelsey Jackson and secretary Dolores Frayler as an opportunity for students to help others. The campaign started on January 5 and ended on January 13.
"This was a service project giving back to the community," Jackson said. "I've spoken with a few economically disadvantaged kids and hearing them talk about giving their stuffed animals to someone else who might need them is huge. They get something in return, but it's not tangible. It is doing a good act of service.

The Klein ISD School Board approved the school calendar for the 2021-2022 school year at the January 12 board meeting.

The district had sent out a calendar survey on Dec. 1, according to an announcement on the district's website. There were 14,000 responses and nearly 75% of those who responded preferred Version A of the proposed schedule, which was the version unanimously approved by the administrators.
Through the Klein2Go program, families were able to receive lunches and breakfasts for their students via curbside pickup. Klein2Go had served nearly two million meals as of Jan. 8, according to a district press release. Seven days of lunches and breakfasts can be picked up on Tuesdays at some campuses.
The new Klein2Go dinner pickup option is available Thursdays from 1-2 p.m. on all Klein ISD High School campuses. Families can receive seven days of their child's preferred entree, and meals are free for children 18 and under who do not receive after-school meals, the announcement said.
Five Husker Newcomers Whose Impact Is Likely To Be Felt This Spring
Klein ISD hosted a graduation ceremony to celebrate the graduation of 34 students from the Vistas High School program and Klein Success Academy.
The ceremony is held to signify the student's completion of the program, both of which provide resources for students at risk of not graduating to help them complete high school at an accelerated pace.
"We celebrate our Vistas High School and Klein Success Academy graduates and are so proud of how they persevered and overcame so many challenges," Klein ISD Superintendent Jenny McGown said in an online press release. "This moment is a true testament to the many avenues available to Klein ISD students to step out with their purpose and successfully pursue the next chapter of their lives."

Both programs offer extensive support and guidance from teachers at the school and build relationships with each student to help them learn and grow, the announcement said.
"The Klein Success Academy is focused on the future of our students," said Shelli Moore, coordinator of the Klein Success Academy. "We know this program gives our students a fighting chance to succeed, no matter what obstacles they face."
